My First WLPC!

I was able to attend WLPC for the first time this year! I have to say the experience was amazing and I was able to meet many of the people who helped me become a wireless engineer. I ran into several CWNEs that I knew from my time at Walmart so it was great to get to see them again. I got to thank some of them for their amazing blog posts that helped me get a deeper understanding of wireless.

Since I'm with Extreme I got to go with several of the incredibly talented folks from the company, even David Coleman, who's CWNA book is a huge reason I'm in the position I'm in now. Many other experts who helped me along the way like Peter Mackenzie and his incredible troubleshooting/design videos I've watched from old WLPC recordings.

Extreme hosted an evening event and I got to help show off their mobile companion app for configuration and onboarding.

My deep dive was on Wi-Fi 7. We reviewed how the technology works and some of the IE in packet captures. I'll have a separate blog post for what I've learned from that session. I'm very excited for the potential latency benefits with opportunistic link selection. Think of having an association on 5GHz and one on 6GHz, whichever comes available the soonest the client will transmit on. Could be game changing for voice applications!
